Julie Dossantos has been an early childhood educator for 15 years. She began her career as a Pre-K teacher, then she moved into Child Care Management, and then began freelancing as a music & movement teacher and storyteller. She has worked as a preschool teacher for organizations such as Childtime Children's Center and the Johnson Space Center's (NASA) private school located in Houston, TX. She and her husband also owned an educational consulting company, Scholastic Ventures, Inc. in Houston, TX.
Julie loves working with children, and their families. She has a passion to bring joy and wonder back to education. Julie believes that learning should be fun and exciting, and it shows in her teaching. Julie holds a current CDA (Child Development Assoc.) and is certified in Child Care Business Management. She is a member of MusicFriends. She was a featured guest speaker at the 2003 "Back to School" convention for the Gulf Coast Assoc. for the Education of Young Children, or GCAEYC. She has also served as guest speaker for the MOPS organization, and the Vero Beach Moms group, Early Childhood Coalition, Child Care Resources of Indian River County, Windsor, and Lakewood Park United Methodist Church. She has been a featured performer at the TLC Decade of Children celebration at Riverside Park and at various Indian River Mall events.
Julie currently teaches music and movement once a week to area preschoolers and toddlers at Riverside Children's Theatre. Julie has also been the Friday morning storyteller at the Vero Beach Book Center for more than 4 years. She is also "Team Mom" for www.treasurecoastmoms.com
Julie is very involved in her community. In the past she has served her community by sitting on the March of Dimes March for Babies committee, Riverside Children's Theatre Committee, and on the Bright Promises Preschool Board of Directors. Julie also serves as the Director of Christian Education at Lakewood Park United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce.
